What is Your Destiny?

What motivates you? What brings a smile to your face? How can you enjoy life and what you do and benefit the Kingdom of God at the same time? For me it’s easy. I love to interact with people. To be more exact, I love youth ministry. I love working with kids of all ages. They are our future. I love opening up my heart so that someone can learn from my past success and failures. That is what drives me.

The question is, what drives you?
I can tell you right now that money, possessions, fame, popularity, or anything that the world has to offer, will not supplement your destiny. The dream you have inside you needs to be unleashed. Don’t let the world and its system hold you back from your destiny.
When David went to fight Goliath, his brothers, King Saul, Goliath, and both armies were laughing at him and telling him he could not do it. They were trying to keep him from his destiny but he knew who God was and that God had big plans for him. God has big plans for us all but we have to choose to go after them. Dr. Cole, founder of Christian Men’s Network always said, “If you let someone create your world, they will always create it too small.” Surround yourself with people who will lift you up and support your dreams and not tear them down.
Dream Big! Dreams are the substance of every great achievement.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.”

The movie that opened me up my eyes is, About Schmitt.  It is about an older gentleman who retires and a young guy right out of college comes in and replaces him.  He starts to realize that everything he has worked for in his career didn’t mean very much. He realized that he got so caught up in his career that he did not achieve any of the dreams that he had set.
Now don’t do anything crazy and quit your job and lose your family and home for a dream. We have to be reasonable and responsible. We have to start small with what we have. You could start by taking college classes on the side or working part time in the field that you are interested in. Start working at a preschool until you become a certified teacher. Play small gigs in coffee shops on the weekend until something opens up.
The key to success in life is not giving up on our dreams. My dream is to see a group of young people on fire for God:  a group of young people who are going after their dreams and are being effective in the world. Don’t worry about what other people think because the only opinion that matters is God. We can’t be afraid to take risks. If it is truly from God, you can’t fail. Just because you don’t succeed, you have not failed. You fail when you give up.  So as long as you are trying, then you have not failed. A war is not lost with just one battle. Wars are won one battle at a time. Keep your head up and push on. You will be successful.
