Urgent Appeal On Behalf of a Desperate and Destitute People

Dear partners and friends,

We have a couple of URGENT needs in India right now. Please pray for the poor families in Rajahmundry. Our Indian team has been working in an area that has no Gospel teaching. We have plans to put a church and a bore well in this area.

A couple of days ago our team once again visited this area while on outreach. They discovered that there had been an accidental fire in which 150 families lost their homes and everything they own, except what they were wearing at the time of the fire.  We were able to get the blankets to the families but that is all for which we currently we had funds. These people are sleeping in the cold on the ground and pulling the blanket over themselves at night.

It is estimated that a bare minimum of $15,000 is needed to help provide shelter for these families. The bore well will be another $1,000.  Would you please pray about making a donation? Any amount given above these specific needs will be used to provide clothing and cooking gear for the families who are suffering because of the fire.

Please take a moment to look at the pictures, “like” us on Facebook  and view more pictures and videos.

Another urgent outreach we are undertaking and for which we are seeking help is among the poorest of castes. Due to counterfeiting, the Indian government has announced that it will no longer honor low denomination rupees nov16-rupees(their monetary system) of 500 and 1000 (worth about 7.50 and 15.00 US Dollar.)  They do have a grace period for turning in the rupees but the poor people are unable to find transportation to get to the banks.  Since the lower denominations are the only currency these people have, they are unable to get transportation, buy food or clothes, etc.  If they are able to find someone to honor the lower denominations, those vendors are refusing to offer them change.

This is horribly stressful as these small amounts are the life savings of many of these families. There have been reports of some suicides because of these hardships on an already destitute and desperate people.

What we would like to do is continue our outreaches but add food distribution for a time.  This would be a wonderful opportunity to both bless these very poor families with food and also open the door to the Gospel as we tell them about Christ.  Perhaps we can even set up an exchange station for a few of them (there is a limit to how many bills can be exchanged, so we can’t help many of those needing help).
