Until I Fall Asleep

Chaotic thoughts come in
I want to block them out,
But now is not the time
To figure it all out.

I know I need my rest,
And that these thoughts will keep.
Please sit beside my bed
Until I fall asleep.

So overwhelming now,
The challenges I face.
At times, I want to quit,
Don’t want to run the race.

The road looks very long,
The mountain seems so steep.
Please sit beside my bed
Until I fall asleep.

With sadness overcome,
I feel that I am spent;
My energy is gone,
I don’t know where it went.

Feel drained of all my tears,
Tomorrow I will weep.
Please sit beside my bed
Until I fall asleep.

You will keep in perfect peace
   those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.”  Isaiah 26:3
