Unleashing The Gospel

Pioneers of the world Christian movement didn’t wait for someone else to go first; they opened the way for others.

David Livingstone was one of the key pioneers to Africa. Mr. Livingstone was noted to have said to an assembly of people gathered to hear of his adventures, “I go back to Africa to try and open a path. Carry out the work which I have begun. I leave it with you.”

What was “the task”? To unleash the gospel to those who might otherwise never have the opportunity to hear it – to fulfill Christ’s command to go into all the nations and proclaim the good news.

Bibles for Uganda

This year Heart of God East Africa missionaries have had the privilege bestowed by God, to proclaim the gospel in Entebbe, Tororo, Bunambutye, and Karamoja. In October, the Karamojong tribe received 500 Bibles in their native language. Because of the power of the Word of God alive among the Karamoja, new churches and leaders will begin to multiply. These leaders already know the culture and language. This leads to fewer barriers while the Gospel spreads deeper into unreached areas. Glory to God!

As our efforts expand in East Africa we are called back more frequently. The task becomes critical to not only deploy short term mission teams, but to pray for those considering long term callings. As the pioneers of yesteryear prayed for those who would carry on the call, we too, pray for those coming ahead. It might well be you we are praying for!
We understand that not everyone feels called into the mission field. There are still many opportunities in which you can participate, right from where you are.

Our next trip to East Africa is scheduled for February 2012; we will be gone slightly longer than a week. During that short time, we will be interviewing new teachers for Kings Primary School and holding village meetings to discuss logistics for building a secondary school. Community projects will be initiated in Bunambutye, the poorest community in the district, to initiate projects to provide life sustaining resources. Most importantly, however, the Gospel will be preached throughout the village.

The Lord has led Heart of God East Africa to focus on this particular community which is a mixture of “born agains” and Muslims. We are adopting William Carey’s motto as most fitting for a trip such as this: “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.”

Below, you’ll find those called to this first trip in 2012. Each one needs your support, prayerfully and/or financially. Please take the time to consider how God might use you for the important tasks we will be undertaking during this assignment from heaven.
