Truth Is Important

There are some people that believe truth doesn’t matter to God. They claim it’s one’s sincerity that He’s pleased with. However, the Bible stresses the important of truth, especially truth about God and the gospel. Here are some verses from that Bible that speaks about truth:

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

“So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body” (Ephesians 4:25).

“The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever” (Psalm 119:160).

“Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the Son of the Father—will continue to be with us who live in truth and love” (2 John 1:3).

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17).

These a just a few verses, but there are plenty more. Jesus referred Himself as the Truth, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father expect through me” (John 14:6). The Bible clearly declares that truth matters. What we believe is vital to our salvation and spiritual walk and should not be taken lightly. If there is confusion about what is true or false, praying to God to reveal truth to us should be one of the first things we do. God is more than willing to answer.

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32).
