There is No Sin Temptation

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Solightstock_160956_medium_user_3844373metimes as Christians,  we struggle with unwanted desires. These feelings often leave us feeling dirty, shameful, uncomfortable and not covered by Jesus’ love. However, there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about when we are temped. We must remember that we are human and that comes with a variety of issues, struggles, and problems. Christ’s death and resurrection made it possible that we  become new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). We have been sealed with God’s Holy Spirit as a down payment for our inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 1:14, 2 Corinthians 1:22). Our spirits are redeemed, but our flesh is still fallen. We must live with that realization and depend on God to fight our battles. We cannot ward of temptation by ourselves.

The Bible says that even Jesus was tempted, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). He knows our struggles. He knows what we’re going through. We must trust Him to help us overcome. You may ask, “how do I do that?” We must commune with Jesus daily, cry out to Him in prayer. We must read His Word because it is our sustenance. It’s what transforms our minds (Romans 12:2). We cannot walk this walk without it. We must think lovely thoughts. If we pray for God’s strength or His holiness, we must be willing to sit at His feet. There’s no strength or holiness apart from Jesus. Also, we can make ourselves accountable to our brothers and sisters, as it is our duty bear one another burdens (Galatians 6:2). That brother or sister may have experienced the same thing and might have a testimony to share of how God has been faithful. Remember, Jesus paid it all on the cross. We’re not fighting for victory; we’re fighting from victory. Let’s let temptation steal our joy, peace, and assurance in Christ.

Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted (Hebrews 2:18).
