St. Patrick’s Day

I’ve never really thought much about St. Patrick’s Day before except to wear green so I don’t get pinched.  Now that I’m working with some younger adults, I hear them talking about going out and partying.   Kathy Schwanke shared a link on FB about the man,  St. Patrick, who this day was originally set aside to celebrate.  It’s a good post, Happy Greatest Missionary Who Ever Lived Day, by Mark Driscoll and I would encourage you to read it.

A quote from Patrick himself is, “I am a servant of Christ to a foreign nation for the unspeakable glory of life everlasting which is in Jesus Christ our Lord.”

As you think green today, maybe you’ll take some time to read about this little known missionary and enjoy this old Irish Hymn.  We sang it at our church for a New Year’s Service, Be Thou My Vision.
