Seeking God’s 20/20 Vision

I have never been to Africa, but in early January (2013), I felt as though I had been.

I was at a church listening to a woman trained in prophetic ministry talk about her journey, from where she had been to where God has taken her:  To start a Christian school in Africa, in the country of Cameroon.

Sherri L. Lewis was a doctor in the United States, following the footsteps of her father and a sister.  And she was gifted as a child:  Her father said she wrote a book at a very early age.  She has written several Christian fiction books, many written while she was a doctor.  But God had other plans for her.

“Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should do it,” Ms. Lewis said during a visit home from Africa.  “… Everything God was saying to me was different from what I was doing.”

We have God’s passion inside of us, she said.  However, she was not pursuing God’s dreams for her life nor her own dreams.

That got me thinking.

I was gifted as a child.  I have been writing poetry and songs pretty much since I could write sentences.  I have been labeled smart.  I have many talents related to writing and editing.  Am I pursuing God’s dreams for me?

In her message, Ms. Lewis touched on having a vision as we embark on a new year and quoted, “Write the vision, and make it plain,” from Habakkuk 2:2.

She also quoted Proverbs 29:18a:  “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

“What is your vision for your life this year?” Ms. Lewis asked.  “What is God’s vision for your life this year?”

I pondered these questions.  I am seeking the answers from God.

“There is no greater joy than giving your life completely to Him,” Ms. Lewis said.

I am starting my journey to verify my 20/20 vision from God.  I want to live God’s vision for me.

What about you?
