Poem: Jesus Is Calling

Losses have been a big part of my life through the last three years.  While those losses were Heaven’s gains, I was still left to deal with everything that comes in those events.  I’m thankful my Dad taught me death was a part of life. The manner in which he showed me how to handle adversity and give of myself has made it possible for me to keep moving forward.

As I look back at losing both parents and in-laws, along with my wife Alice, I’m very thankful for Dad’s teaching.

Recently, I felt as though I needed to take an important step forward. I publicly recommitted my life to God and was baptized. That journey lead me to write another poem. I continue to believe God gave me the gift of writing poetry to help not only myself, but to help others connect with emotions they’ve perhaps buried. When things in my life seem to have no reason, God gives me a rhyme.

Jesus Is Calling

Jesus is calling. Are you in for the call?

He never wants much, just to give it your all.

If you give Him your heart, the rewards will be great;

No deadlines to meet, it’s never too late.

With grief in my life, He was there for the task

of listening to me, for whatever I asked.

Impatience abounds in my mind as I cried,

not knowing the path as hard as I tried.

Each loss as it happens has taken a toll.

I searched for myself in which God has a role.

One day at a time as the journey begins,

with support from our families and more from our friends.

As I wait for your answer I put Him on hold.

To just keep Him waiting would be pretty bold.

If your balance is off and you can’t keep from falling,

you should just take the call, as Jesus is calling.
