No Competition!

Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are not in competition; yet, in modern Christendom, believers pit them against each other like canines in a dog fight. In historical Christianity (4th century) there was a fierce thrust to subordinate Holy Spirit. This has continued into our current Christian climate.  But Jesus and the Holy Spirit do not attempt to usurp each other; neither do they revile or demean the other. However, those that claim they are His will ridicule, belittle and degrade those that align themselves to One or the Other. But how can we ally ourselves as if to an individual; someone we may favour, when they themselves are ONE?

God is Spirit, Jesus is God and Holy Spirit is ____________. We fumble here for something to fill in the blank? Is he a manifestation? A presence?  A feeling?  A leading? A person? A will?  A promise? Who is this One whom Jesus is pitted against? He is the One Jesus asked for, to come in His stead (John 14:14-26). Why is He, of all the Trinity, so highly and feverishly misunderstood and maligned?  The answer is simpler than the controversies surrounding Him. Without the Truth (Spirit of), the enemy of our souls (satan) can get away with just about anything….including an illusionary competition between our Savoir Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ. That amounts to one of us being pitted against ourselves. Or the One Body (of Christ) competing against each other…… if the members were separate. We are One in essence with Elohim (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and One in Spirit with each other, the True Bride; nevertheless we compete, and sometimes claw or scratch like alley cats. So we imagine the Trinity, and in particular, Son and Spirit, do the same. But Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be sent, so we would not be left alone. (John 14:16-17) He also stated that what the Holy Spirit would share would not be of His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak (John 16:13). Some have concluded that Holy Spirit thus has lesser value, authority or reign in believers’ lives.

During the second century, continuing into the 4th, Jesus’ divinity was in question. Two camps marked their lines. One (the vast majority) claimed Jesus was divine and the other maintained that Jesus was a created being, using the Scripture, John 14:28-14:28 as a basis. As always, by only one Scripture, never, a doctrine makes. From Gnostics to Arians the conflict blazed, and in order to hinder further heresy, a council was convened for united agreement. But the conflict changed the truth not one fragment. It did however, change and influence people’s minds. That is the crux of any heresy or misinterpretation of Scripture… many can be influenced or persuaded? For generations Holy Spirit has been ignored, maligned, and often belittled or despised. When given any regard, He was often considered second-rate or someone we were never to engage with, for fear of dabbling with demonic spirits; or deeming the gifts He graciously gives as He wills, to be dangerous or not for present day.

Jesus was quite clear that it was better for Him (Jesus) to leave His disciples and yet believers have been taught that to relate to the Holy Spirit personally is some sort of illicit affair, like cheating on one’s spouse. “Don’t glorify Holy Spirit”, we are warned. Yet we are told in 1John 5:8 that these three: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, are One. To relate openly to the One true God who indwells us, to seek His counsel, commune with His Person, and be led by His direction, is not glorifying one over the other; it is accepting the Promise (Holy Spirit) which we receive by faith in Jesus Christ (Gal.3:14). Otherwise we might well assume we can’t talk of Jesus or make Him a focus, for we are lifting Him above the Father……..THEY ARE ONE, THEY ARE ONE, THEY ARE ONE…..FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT. Without One, the others are incomplete. There is no separation, there is no separation, there is no separation.

Jesus is Lord does not mean Holy Spirit is less or non-existent. He is the Spirit who infuses Jesus with His (Jesus’) lordship, for He is the One who raised Him from the dead and it was by Him (Holy Spirit) that Jesus was conceived in the womb of Mary. (Rom. 8:11, Like 1:35). Let us let God be ELOHIM, Father, Son and Holy Spirit…..ONE.

And finally…….“No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost” (I Corinthians 12:3)

My love affair with the Lord began on a small island off of Australia. He revealed the depth of His love. Opened my heart to what the Cross actually achieved and what He had to pay to accomplish such a final solution. Separating Himself from Himself for me (on the Cross). I fell in love in that instant and I was finished…finished looking for God, finished fighting Him, finished listening to any other possibility. Radically saved, I have never been the same….much like Paul, I was chief of sinners and forgiven much I have only one choice, to love much.

He has taken me all over the world and continues to do so…from Africa to Asia and many as yet, untravelled places. My ministry is all Spirit led, even to the point of giving Him my mouth to use as He sees fit, moment by moment. Whether teaching or preaching, He determines what is said, what is needed by the hearer and what will move their heart, heal their bodies and give them liberty. He has had me write articles, e-journals (on knowing Holy Spirit personally) and present weekly live Skype teachings on the subject of His (Holy Spirit’s) choice. Healing has been another area He has had me focus upon.

My online live and in person healing ministry has produced such amazing miracles, (from malaria to cancer being healed), I sometimes wonder if I was even involved. But that is the greatness of our God. Teaching other believers their birthright in healing has also been a privilege. So whether I am in a Western country or the rural areas of Africa, believers learn about Holy Spirit and is essential role in their lives as a Person, the truth about grace and the Gospel and how to minister healing to their own families and neighbours. It is a full life and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.  Triumph Ministries.
