SOLDIERS BIBLE MINISTRY

“These Are Fantastic Resources…”

Niokee, Chapel Secretary
NOTE:  This month’s update is written by my friend and SBM’s Volunteer Coordinator of Prayer and Correspondence in Kennewick, Washington, JanMarie Bailey.  JanMarie is doing a fantastic job and will be taking over the newsletter publication going forward, in addition to all the other excellent service she provides.  Thanks for being a good friend, Bailey!

Soldiers Bible Ministry “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

This month General David Petraeus takes command of the war in Afghanistan.  As our brave warriors continue to put their lives on the line for their country, please continue to lift them up in prayer.

SBM continues to see more volunteers stepping up to the challenge to help our allied forces’ spiritual and emotional healing!  However, more are needed.  So if the Lord leads you to us, I know from personal experience you will be blessed far more than you will ever anticipate.

In addition, we continue to send shipments of Bibles and study materials abroad and here in the States.  We have also teamed up with Faith Comes By Hearing to provide the New Testament on MP3 player for our troops abroad.

We continue to receive evidence of the Lord’s work through feedback received by SBM.  Below are more heart warming notes:

Making Ministry Happen

Ma’am,
I want to thank you for what you do.  I have used the program you sent and my “Joes” enjoy it.  I have others who want to do a sort of Bible study on the booklet and CD.  Again thank you for your support and making ministry happen.  We did get some guitar strings and equipment to enhance our worship environment.  My guys appreciate it and the little things is what keeps my Soldiers going on a daily basis.

SBM Takes All Bible Requests Seriously

On May 3, 2010, SBM received a request from the aunt of a soldier who was being deployed to Afghanistan.  When she first contacted us the only information she gave us was his name, that he was a Marine – a “hog” sniper at that, that he was in the Green Division of the 33rd Battalion, and that he was being deployed on May 13th from Hawaii.   She asked, “Is there a way to just send them (Bibles) to the Marines in Afghanistan and I can trust God to get them to where there need to be?”

We were able to locate his Chaplain the day before the deployment, just before the Marine Base halted email communications (God’s perfect timing).  SBM shipped out Bibles to their base operations in Afghanistan.  We are now awaiting receipt of confirmation.

SBM will be reporting the full story once we receive confirmation that the Bibles are finally in the hands of the Marines of 33rd Battalion.

Niokee Shares Excitement Over Resources

Got my box today.  As I am looking through the workbook I can honestly shout, jump up and down and say YES!!!!! I do a new arrival orientation every 1st Thursday of the month and I have some GRAND ideas thanks to the work book and DVD! These are fantastic resources for our inbound Marines and for our young marines, Wednesday night Bible study, singles ministry, PWOC…oh have I gone on too long? I could keep going!  I am going to get someone, or volunteer myself, to lead a bible study with this workbook!

God Bless & I’ll be in touch soon!

I will be in touch, Niokee, to find out how things are going!

Military Heritage Pocket Bible
Publication Update

We all know that God grows our patience by testing our trust in His perfect timing.  We have our own ideas as to when something will come about and are then humbled when it doesn’t work out the way in which we optimistically hoped it would.  We are continuing to look forward to the completion of the Military Heritage Pocket Bible (MHPB).  While we were hoping for a late Spring publication date, it looks like, God willing, the end of the year will be a more realistic target date.  But, then, we never know what He has planned.

“Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!” (Psalm 27:14)

As always, please continue to keep all our allied forces personnel and their families in your constant prayers!
