HG-Haiti Update: How Do You Clean Toilets and Change the World?

You clean toilets, paint walls, tile floors and tubs, and you change the world – through Anderson’s, Samantha’s, Marie Elande’s, Nadine’s, Samson’s, Nerlande’s, Jolike’s, Reginald’s, Jude’s, Bianca’s, Loudina’s, Ednel’s, Losentia’s, Ezechiel’s, Fegens’, Emmanuel’s, Jean’s, and Natache’s eyes.

A group from A Door To Hope visited The Center last week to paint the bathroom walls shiny white and lay some incredible ceramic tile. Look at the amazing job they did!

Wow. We are speechless.

We even have flushing toilets now thanks to Big Blue, our

new water tank (and the new plumbing), also known as the ‘hang out.’

A small group from Canada even came, built benches, a new shelf in the kitchen, and flashed one of the outer walls, which will hopefully keep moisture out during the upcoming rainy season.

Toilets love water, as do concrete mixers and cooking and cleaning and well… life in general, so we ran out.

But, as per His usual, God came through in a mighty and very humbling way.

Read Erin’s quick note below to see what God did, then follow the link to read the rest. You don’t want to miss this! Visible proof that God can, and will, use anyone to be His hands and feet, regardless of their age.

Because some plumbing work was being done by a Haitian team at the same time that also involved cement mixing, our water supply quickly diminished, faster than I had anticipated. And of course it ran out the day I was away from the center. Someone called, explaining the situation and said a water truck had already been called. The group donated some of the money needed to purchase the 3000 gallons of water for which I was extremely grateful. Work resumed.

The last day of this group’s stay, as we said our goodbyes, I offered to repay the team for the money they spent on the water truck, assuming it wasn’t in their budget to do so. They refused and said it was their pleasure to help. Then it was revealed that of the money donated, most of it came from one of the...

It’s been a very full and exciting month. Thank you for your constant prayers and support. As always, we can’t do what we are called, and honored to do, without you.
PS: Our little Ednel is doing wonderful! Remember, he got hit by a motorcycle last month. There was concern that his fracture wasn’t healing well but he (and Erin) went to Port Au Prince yesterday to visit with an American Orthopedic Surgeon with an organization called

Broken Earth. The surgeon reviewed the x-ray and while the healing isn’t as good as it should be, he reassured us that it will work itself out, heal fine, and his cast can be removed at his next follow-up on April 13th. We are beyond excited for that news!

So not only has God been our miraculous Provider, He has also been our miraculous Healer.
