Feeling Queasy? What Are You Standing On?

Standing on the promises that cannot fail, When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, By the living Word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God. This is the 2nd verse in a song called (Standing On The Promises.) written by Russell k Carter and published in 1886. For several weeks the words to this song have been playing over and over again in my head.

We are living in the last days that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:23-26 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

We are living in a conference generation, where there are many individuals who are paying thousands of dollars to run from one meeting to the next, chasing the ever so allusive, emotional high. Emotions are like shifting sands, unstable and unsuitable for building upon. Jesus said, Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Matthew 7:24.

The disciples were in a terrible storm on the sea of Galilee, when they saw Jesus walking to them on the water. Peter said Lord, if that be you, then bid me come. Jesus said come, and Peter begin to walk on the water. Now the natural man cannot walk on water, but Peter was also walking on the word that Jesus spoke ( come.) Matthew 14:28. Jesus said Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35.

God so closely identifies with his word, that John said in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. Saint John 1:1. As Christians, the word of God is the only reality that we need. Paul says that the things which are seen are temporal, and that it is only the things which you cannot see thatare eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18.

There is only one thing that is impossible for God to do, and that is to lie. Numbers 23:19. When we can learn to respond only to whats written in Gods words, when what he has spoken, becomes more real then our circumstance, (We Shall Not Be Moved.)

Standing on Gods word, we are more then conquerors. Romans 8:37 Standing on the promises, no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17 Standing on his word, by his stripes I am healed. Isaiah 53:5. When we let the word of God become the only matter that really matters, then as Jesus said, Greater works then these shall you do. St John 14:12.

A deer has been known to jump over an 8 foot chain linked fence in an emergency, but they will not jump a brick wall. They will only jump when they can see what is on the other side. How often are we like the deer, afraid to trust God, unless we can see whats on the other side ? Yet as Christians, we know what is beyond the wall.

Paul said I have fought a good fight, and I have finished the course, henceforth there is laid up for me a Crown of Righteousness, which the world cannot take away. 2 Timothy 4:7. The word of God is the essence of who and what he is, it is his spiritual DNA. Study it, memories and meditate upon it. Fall in love with it. In a trial, let his declared word become your first response. Let the words that you speak, harmonize with his written word. Learn to stand on the promises of God, there is one for every situation.

Dark storm clouds are on the spiritual horizon, and the smell of sulfur is in the air, unseen armies are on the move and battle line are being formed. You who are the remnant can feel it. That which can be shaken, will be, and only that which is built on a solid foundation will stand. Yet rest assured, he said I will never leave you or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 Stand upon it.
