Fear Not

Fear Not“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you to day … The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace (Exodus 14:13-14)

“Fear ye not” … let the words ring in your ears!

Most people you talk to today will share with you that one of the major things they are dealing with is “fear”! Some try to hide it, but it always shows in things they do, ways they act, and what they say. Others have retreated to the safety of their homes where they find some security but fear the times they must go out. Some, however, have no qualms about telling you they’re afraid. Afraid of what, they don’t really know because they don’t know what the future holds. But, what does God have to say about all the emotion … very simply He says, “Fear ye not!”

We’ve all heard the song, “He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands” and nothing could be more truthful! But the question is, do we believe it? And, if we do, why is it so hard to overcome the fear? We simply do not trust God the way we should. We don’t believe His Word the way we should. We know His Word, but we don’t apply it to our own lives. If we did, we wouldn’t be dealing with fear, even in the face of war, terrorist attacks, financial collapse, and the unforeseen future.

His Word says He promises to protect you, shelter you, provide for you, and according to today’s verse, “the LORD shall fight for you!” All through the Word of God there are examples of God’s omnipotence—His power—to do just what He has promised to do and even more.

Is there reason for us to fear? Not at all! Is there reason for us to doubt? No, not ever! Moses told the people that “the LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” If you allow Him to fight your battles, if you allow Him to take care of you, nothing—ABSOLUTELY NOTHING–can rob you of the peace that He has given you.

With the uncertainties in life, don’t allow fear to rob you of the blessing found in just knowing that God is in control and He is working EVERYTHING for your good because you love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

Father, forgive me for entertaining thoughts of fear. Lord, help me look at each day as an opportunity to realize that fear is not of you. However, peace is … the kind of peace that passes all understanding. Lord teach me to cast any fear and doubt far away from me and to allow faith to grow in my heart in all matters concerning life in this age and under these circumstances. Lord, I trust You; teach me to trust You more. I love You, I choose NOT to fear whatever comes my way because You are truly in control! Amen!

“Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!” (Nehemiah 4:19-20)
