Easter Through New Eyes
by Malea Plaza

For us born again believers, Easter is one of the best holidays!

Easter is a day we remember that our Lord and Savior rose from the dead. Jesus Christ is ALIVE!

The resurrection is the reason we are Christians. In John 11:25, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies…” This is an awesome verse to memorize and meditate on. Just the reality of it is amazing when you really think about it.

Take some time to read John chapter 20 to take you back to that heart felt moment when the disciples discovered an empty tomb.

We thank God we know the Truth of Easter, Amen? We know what it means to us. But as with Christmas, the holiday approaches and anything but the Truth is apparent. There is another Easter, the Easter of the world…full of chocolates, candy and cotton-tailed friends. I call it another Easter, because it truly is nothing like myEaster. I say this also out of experience because I came to Christ as an adult. I remember my little brother and I frantically searching the house for those baskets filled with all the “Easter” goodies we loved so dearly. Two words…marshmallow peeps. There is nothing wrong with candy, gifts and the fun that we had every Easter morning. But what was wrong is the fact that I grew up not knowing the Truth.

As a teenager, then a young adult, I lost the joy I once had for the egg hunts and chocolate Easter Through New Eyes by Malea Plazabunnies. How could this happen? How could something that once gave me so much joy just fade away?  Once I came to know Jesus I got my questions answered. Thank you, Lord!

I saw Easter through new eyes. I finally discovered that joy I felt was based on temporal circumstances. Real, lasting joy is only found in Jesus. I can now rest in His peace, and no circumstance or situation can take that joy from me. My joy is eternal!

So, as I celebrate Easter this year, I rejoice in the fact that I know the Truth … the wonderful truth of the Resurrection. That empty tomb is what makes me who I am today–a follower of Christ. Thank you Lord!

Let us remember this Easter the power of the resurrection and walk in that power everyday. In Him we have the victory!

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29
