Don’t Let Others Bring You Down
by Amanda Coffel (Age 18)

“A righteous man is cautious in friendship but the way of the wicked leads them astray:” Proverbs 12:26
This is one of those verses that pretty much speaks for itself. Everyone is faced with the decision “Who will I allow myself to become close to?” Friends are essential. It’s not healthy to be without them. Even at the beginning of time, God did not want Adam to be alone.
Friends play a big role in each of our lives, especially during the high school years. It’s hard enough to live for Christ during teen years; one doesn’t need the wrong people getting close to you and influencing you. You just can’t compromise yourself and your reputation in that way.
If you already have friends who bring you down and tempt you to stray away from God’s perfect will, you may have to give them up. Difficult, yes, but not impossible.
Give your time to other strong Christians who will help you strive for excellence in your walk with God. Don’t let others bring you down.

All teens are encouraged to submit original devotionals, stories, poems … use whatever creative gifts God has given you.  Submit them to  Thanks!
