Dark Morning

I was sitting outside this morning enjoying the beauty of what our daughter used to call, “dark morning”…that time just before sunrise. I was enjoying a cup of hot tea listening to the birds wake up and greet each other in song. As I looked over the field toward the sunrise, the silhouette of a huge Maple blocked my view. As it became lighter, the starkness or nakedness of the tree began to stand out. The tree has tiny buds but no leaves…it will soon… and then it will be beautiful and bring shade to our deck and the chairs that we will sit under it…but not now. Now it is naked of all of that beauty.

I thought our lives are like that before the Lord…when the Lord created us we were naked. Then Adam chose to disobey God and sin entered the world. One of the first things recorded was that God sewed fig leaves and clothed Adam and Eve. God covered their nakedness, physically. God still covers our nakedness…spiritually. Nothing in our lives is hidden before HIM. It is like we stand before HIM behind a powerful x-ray machine that exposes every bone in our body…our hearts and thoughts are like this before HIM. The Bible tells that HE even knows our thoughts before we think them.
Yet, HE loves us, HE created us…and HE has given us a covering through faith in HIS Son Jesus…the Bible says that the Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin…it washes us and makes our sin, white as snow…Jesus takes away our shame and creates a vessel, a person of beauty from our broken, naked lives. Then our lives will be fruitful and bring blessing to others. The Lord is so wonderful…how can we not love and serve HIM.

Linda Kropp got saved at 14.  ” I always say that I didn’t get into a lot of trouble…because my mom wouldn’t let me!”  Linda was a was a missionary from 1973-1985 in the States, Europe and Asia, 9 of those in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Her husband was in the same mission, “Christ is the Answer” and they were married in Sri Lanka in 1980.

They have one daughter, Elisabeth, a son-in-law and a 4 yr. old granddaughter and another granddaughter due in July.  They attend College Avenue Baptist Church in Bloomington where they both are Sunday School teachers.  In September of 2009, Linda was praying about a way to help missions and she felt the Lord put on her heart to open a thrift store in Clinton, IL and give 100 % of the profits to missions, crisis pregnancy centers and food pantries. So she did.  They also have a weekly Bible study; a mentoring program for homeschooled and public school students. We work with DOVE (a domestic violence program), the IDHS in Lincoln, and the Red Cross Disaster Relief.  They also have had 69 people commit their lives to Christ since they opened. It has become a ministry…and that is just the ones who have gotten saved. Many people come in daily with prayer needs and they pray for them.
