And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. Ezekiel 34:26
Our Christmas Day celebration is a family brunch at our house. The whole family joins together to eat breakfast and open gifts, leaving the rest of the day for them all to join other families later.
A couple of years ago I had been suffering with depression, thoughts of suicide and not finding any meaning for life. I had lost my sister, my mentor, a couple of years earlier on Christmas Eve Day. I wasn’t looking forward to another meaningless Christmas.
This particular Christmas was particularly difficult in other ways, too. My younger daughter had been homeless for a couple of months with 4 children and 1 more on the way. We had to make some tough decisions and could not help her anymore.

As Christmas Morning was approaching, my daughter called saying she just didn’t feel good and could we come and get our grandsons for her so she could rest. She had found a home and was doing ok otherwise. My husband went to pick them up so they would not be left out of the family gathering. In the early afternoon, we drove down to return them to their home. Later that evening, we got a phone call that my daughter was in labor and headed for the hospital. We were surprised with the most awesome Christmas Blessing of all.

Our Precious Little Jade Analise was born Christmas Day!
When my daughter told me that Jade’s middle name was for my sister, Ann, I just broke down and cried.
We took the 4 big brothers home with us to spend the night and took them home after their mom came home with the new baby sister. It was only then that I had time to reflect on the events of the past couple of days.
How awesome is our God! What more of a blessing could He have given to me?

When things look the most bleak, the Lord always brings a special blessing way above our expectations.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.Romans 5:1-5
