Miracles in India

I love traveling to India. I love the culture. I love the people. There is an overwhelming power of God that I have experienced while in India. We have had the privilege of praying for thousands of Indians while in their county and that calling does not leave us as we return home. The power of prayer is especially strong when we are in India and I have often wondered why. I believe it must be because of the open hearts of the people … they just come hoping and believing.

Many, many miraculous feats have been witnessed in India. The first time I went to India (1997 I think) there was a man who suffered from fever, hallucinations, and other infirmities for more than 2 weeks. He looked to be dehydrated, he stumbled, he had lost weight, and he could barely carry himself. He was not able to care for his family or to work. He had to use a large stick to steady himself to even get to our team… but I saw him coming. There was a large crowd around me as I stood in what looked to be a place where the animals went to relieve themselves. I was unable to move from the area or even be careful where I stepped because of the crowd pressing in. It reminded me of the woman with the issue of blood who had faith, who had hope, who came pressing into the crowd. The doctors could not help this mans ailments but God instantly and miraculously healed him as I put my forehead to his and prayed. He held my hands in his and then placed his hand on his heart in a thankful gesture. He then left to go find his family. I could hear his happy shouts as he made his way back to his home. After 5 weeks we got a report that this man was healthy and still thriving. Praise the Lord! “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14

… and this seems to be the way that God works through us while we are in India.

We are happy to report many healings, even from AIDS and TB, but what we truly rejoice in is the salvation of souls. The healings are just one of the way that the Spirit of God ministers to the people of India but it is the eternal remedy that is our ultimate goal. The last trip I made to India, our Pastor reports that people were healed from Malaria, TB, and many other illness. We do not boast in these miracles but we certainly embrace them as evidence of the working of the Holy Spirit. As I thank God for the physical healings in India, my heart pours out over that land as I pray for wholeness in every aspect for these wonderful people.

When our work in India began, God made it very clear how He wanted this work to be conducted. Our Pastors in India are in unity, bearing the burdens of one another, learning together, praying together, and setting out to reach as many of the others as possible and to encourage those who already believe. Please pray for this work, for our Brothers and Sisters in other lands as they strive to truly be an example of Christ to those around them.
