Behold the Place Where They Laid Him

He Is Risen

“And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.” (Mark 16:6)

An old hymn (one of my personal favorites) sums everything up for today’s devotion…celebrate the risen Lord not only today, but every day of your life!

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus, my Savior
Waiting the coming day, Jesus, my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes
He arose a Victor from the dark domain
And He lives forever with His saints to reign!
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah, Christ arose!

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus, my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus, my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes
He arose a Victor from the dark domain
And He lives forever with His saints to reign! He arose!
He arose! Hallelujah, Christ arose!

He arose so we might live! He arose so we might be called the “sons of God”! He arose so we might walk in the victory He won for us! He arose because death could not hold him; the grave had no ownership of Him! Echo a resounding “Hallelujah!” Our Lord, triumphed over death and the grave and arose a Victor and He lives forever! Hallelujah, What a Savior!

Lord, as I stop and consider all that You’ve done for me, all that You’ve sacrificed for me, all that You’ve purchased for me, I simply stand in awe. I’m not worthy, not one bit! It is through You that I can come before You now and celebrate Your birth, death, resurrection, and eternal life…it is through You that I find cleansing for my sin-sick soul. I am honored, I am humbled, I am grateful, and again, I stand in awe of You! You are all I could ever need and now I stand redeemed because of only You! Hallelujah, what a Savior! Amen!

“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” (Isaiah 25:8-9)
