Are We the Modern-Day Noah’s of Our TIme?

This group, Solutions from Science, have been great friends of Heart of God International Ministries, so I’d really like to give you this little introduction to them and their work.  Go check out their site!  ~ Jeanice

There has been a lot going on this week that’s covered on  today’s episode of Off the Grid Radio. We’ve had the last of the presidential  debates, our very own Brian Brawdy has taped an episode of Nat Geo’s Doomsday Preppers, and we’ve touched  base with our supplier of chia seed from South America to find out how things  are going and if the chia supply shortfalls are going to continue.

Today Bill Heid and Brian Brawdy discuss an eclectic mix of  subjects — from the obvious miracle Obama is going to need to win this election  to Brian’s less-than-satisfying experience working with the producers of Nat  Geo’s Doomsday Preppers.

After listening to the exchange between Bill and Brian, one  couldn’t help but think that today’s preppers are the modern-day Noahs of our  time. How many naysayers are there who stand around and tell us how foolish we  are for trying to insure that we and our families are prepared for disaster  eventualities?  How many outlets like Nat  Geo try to portray us as tinfoil hat nutjobs, all to satisfy their viewers with  a bread and circuses venue?

Far too many. And when that disaster eventuality comes, they  will be the first ones crying and banging at the door, demanding we let them  in. Instead of trying to make preppers out as the latest freak show, they  should get their heads on straight and realize that prepping is nothing more  than disaster insurance. If home, vehicle, and life insurance are accepted  commodities of responsible citizenship, then why shouldn’t disaster prep be as  well? Why shouldn’t an independent off-the-grid lifestyle be celebrated for the  individuality and innovation it represents?

In the second half of today’s show, Bill speaks with Nick  Watson, our supplier of chia seed. Nick tells us all the wonderful properties  of chia and why it’s a great plant-based alternative to animal products for  such things as calcium and omega 3 fatty acids. And while we’ve seen a chia  shortage because of the South American wildfires, Nick assures Solutions From  Science’s customers that the late fall rains and bumper crops are offsetting  those losses.
