April 9: Rivers of Blessing

April 18_rivers“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”  (John 7:38)

The Spirit of God dwelling and working in us is as a fountain of living, running water, out of which plentiful streams flow.

Carefully read the verse again … “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”  In other words, if we believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord according to the Word of God, out of OUR bellies shall flow rivers of living water.

The word “rivers” is used to express an abundance or a full supply. It literally means that we, as instruments of God, shall pour out large and liberal and constant blessings on the world … ever-flowing streams of His life-giving blessings.

We carry within us a fountain of living water, bubbling over and pouring out of us, day after day.  Those whose heart is filled with the presence of God and enjoy an intimate relationship with Him will undoubtedly recognize this ever-flowing stream touching others.  It is the nature of Christians to give to others the very thing which we have been given; no one can be a true child of God and not desire that others know Him also.

Allow those rivers to flow through you, out of your innermost being, to all those with whom you come in contact. Let the Lord use you to share the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.  Remember, you may be the only opportunity some people may have to meet and know our King of kings and Lord of lords.

If He is worthy of all our praise without doubt.  He’s worthy of our willingness to be used in any and every way possible to bring the life-giving living waters to the world.

Lord help me to release the flow of Your blessings to all with whom I come in contact.  Help me to allow your love, your life-giving water, to impact the world that you may be glorified in all the earth. Amen.

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”  (John 4:14)
