Jack was born in Atchison, Kansas in 1938. After high school he joined the Marine Corps, where he became a Christian through watching Billy Graham on television. Then he went to California where he met his wife and they had a son. Then they joined the Church of the Reverend Siegfried Enke who was a big influence on the way Jack began thinking, as he had shared many things with him personally.

The Day of Salvation

hat day began when “there were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over them. They were terribly afraid, but the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David’s town your Savior was born—Christ the Lord!” (Luke 2:8-11 GNT). Others in the past like Abraham had rejoiced to see his day, and: they saw it, and were glad.

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4 KJV).  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9 KJV). “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14 KJV). On that day in Bethlehem he was made one with us, and that’s the meaning of the incarnation, the joining of Spirit with flesh again, as at the creation.

Jesus, speaking of the way we are from conception, said to Nicodemus: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6 KJV). Because since the fall that’s the way we are, and the flesh has not been joined to the Spirit. And God says: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us” (James 4:5 NASB). “Shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?” (Heb. 12:9 KJV) David prayed after his sin with Bathsheba: “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place” (Psa. 51:5-6 NIV).

The Spirit in us is just like the wind, “the wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8 NASB). Because nothing heavenly can come of earthly things, Jesus said of himself: “No man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven” (John 3:13 KJV). “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12 KJV).

“So, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation whatsoever to do what your sinful nature urges you to do, for if you keep on following it, you will perish. But if through the power of the Holy Spirit you turn from it and its evil deeds, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God” (Rom. 8:12-14 NLT), the others are children of the devil.

“We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.

For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2nd Cor. 5:20-6:2 NIV). The day of salvation was the day when everyone was saved, that means no one could be saved individually.Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people” (Rom. 5:18 NIV).

Salvation is the other way around from the way most people see it, that we’re only justified and have life after we believe. But Jesuswas delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification” (Rom. 4:25 NASB). In fact Jesus himself is salvation just like he said to Martha: “I am the resurrection, and the life” (John 11:25 KJV). And since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son” (Rom. 5:10 NLT).

But of those who have received God’s grace in vain, that can no longer be said of them, that is anyone “who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace” (Heb. 10:29 NIV). Those who want to do it themselves are “even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves” (2nd Pet. 2:1 NASB). “But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption” (1st Cor. 1:30 NASB).

Andknowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts” (Rom 13:11-14 NKJV). “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever” (1st Pet. 1:24-25 KJV).
