10 Day Journey … Tina’s Fasting Blog, part 2

DAY SIX…whenever I start a fast, I write down what I long to see God do in and through me. Not as a result or reward for fasting, but just because those are the supernatural works of God I long to see. The blessing and favor of God. Yesterday, in the midst of day five, the Holy Spirit prompted me to see the supernatural hand of God working in two of my six areas/requests. Tangibly working. Hallelujah God! This morning, I am reminded that’s how God works. Look at Isaiah 42:9, “BEHOLD (pay attention), the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you them.” WOW! WOW! WOW! He tells us in advance. You may be wondering, what new things does God have planned and prepared for me? Ps 37:4, 5 clearly instructs us, “Delight thyself in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit your way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Yes, indeedy…if we find pleasure in pleasing Him, He will cause the passions/desires of my heart to line up with His plan and purpose for my life and the lives of others. If I make a commitment to live the way He tells me to — follow the instructions of His Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and if I trust Him — not rely on myself or others to “make it happen”, then I can be confident — take Him at His Word, He will cause the desires of my heart to come to fruition. So, this morning, I encourage you, just as I have done, look at the desires of your heart (if you haven’t written them down, do so — you are building a monument), and get excited. Those are the plans He has for you. New things are just ahead. Go ahead, SHOUT NOW! “LORD, I trust You. I take You at Your Word. Thank You for the new things I sense and see happening in my life. I DARE TO BELIEVE for all six of my desires. I choose to praise You and glorify You today for not only what I see and hear today, but for what I know You have planned and provided to come to pass. NEW THINGS! In Jesus Name, Amen!”

DAY SEVEN…One third of the way through this fast. Evaluation time. Time to make sure my motives line up with God’s desires for me and His purpose behind this plan. Why am I fasting? Why are you fasting? The prophet Isaiah sums up my heart and mind. “Is not this the fast that I have chosen to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye (The Lord) break every yoke?” Isaiah 58:6. Yes, indeedy. That sums it up. I want to know Him more. See His face. Become more like Him. Why? Because He is true to His Word. He does what He says He will do. He is, as we speak, loosening the bands of wickedness that entangle those we love, He is lifting heavy burdens — mine and others, He is setting the path of deliverance in order for those that are oppressed, and He destroying the yoke that binds and constricts — mine and my loved ones. “LORD God, You know…You know…I find such peace in those Words, just like the prophet Ezekiel declared in the valley of dry bones, ‘Oh, Lord God, You know!”…. Thank You for calling me to this time of discipline. Modification of lifestyle. Intentional redirection of habits and efforts and resources. I am excited by the promised benefits — deliverance, healing, restoration, freedom, joy, dancing, singing, so much more. More than I can imagine or articulate. I love You, Lord. Thank You for Your presence — Your working, result-providing, comforting presence — in my life today. Amen!”

DAY EIGHT…”As I gather with Your people, thirsty for Your presence and hungry for Your power, speak to me and through me. Holy Spirit fine-tune my ears that I hear what The Father wants me to hear, sharpen my eyes to see people as He sees them, and use my tongue for His glory and the edification of The Body of Christ. Let the intensity of Your presence be greater than before. In Jesus Name, Amen!” Let’s have church…hungry and thirsty!

DAY NINE: I’ve always heard one of the benefits of fasting is “getting physically healthy.” Now for many of you, those words mean just that. But for us girls that add “fluff” (this is my post, I can call it “fluff” if I want to) to certain body parts (and not those parts that benefit from “fluff”) from just licking the dessert spoon, that translates into “a little weight loss.” Well, given that, this mornings thoughts and passionate prayer will surprise you. “LORD GOD, MY CREATOR, MAKE ME FAT!” Yes, indeedy, you heard me right. Take a look at Isaiah 55:2, “Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which does not satisfy? Hear ken diligently unto me, and eat so that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.” That is such a rich passage, but this morning, I’m focused on that one aspect…the benefit of feasting on the Bread of Life and drinking from the River of Life…fatness for my soul. That word, “fatness,” speaks of “the best there is.” ‘Truly, Lord, that is my cry, I want ‘the best from The Best,” and that only comes from You. Change my appetite. Make me fat!” And, take a look at Isaiah 10:27, (one of my favorite passages), “and it shall come to pass in that day (read the scriptures above that describe “that day” — great instruction from God), that his/my/your burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his/the enemy’s yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed (go ahead, do a victory dance!) because of the anointing.” The last portion of that passage is also translated ‘because of thy fatness.” As we feast on the food our Lord and Master has for us, and we drink from the Water that never runs dry, our spiritual bodies grow and develop in such a way that the yokes, burdens, entanglements, etc., of the enemy no long fit. We become so fat, they are actually destroyed. Glory be to God for His anointing — the supernatural working of God in me and through me, that enables me to do what only God can do — for it makes all the difference in my life. And in your life. Feel trapped this morning. Eat up! And ask The Lord God to make you fat. “Lord, make me fat…break the yokes in my life which cause me to work in fields that you do not intend me to work. Let Your anointing work in me and through me to bring destruction to those yokes. Holy Spirit, convict me if I move in the direction of those yokes…remind me, “don’t touch. Leave them alone. They no longer fit.” Forgive me, Jesus, for getting comfortable in the yokes of the enemy. I do desire Your very best for me. I love You, Lord, and am thankful for Your work in my life. And I long for Your anointing. There is no substitute. Breaks every chain! In Jesus mighty name, Amen!”

DAY TEN…Here I stand, just about half-way. One would think this is the point where you start to think, “ok, I can do this. Doing ok. Thank You, Lord.” Instead, I find myself seeing those areas in my life where I’ve missed the mark, fallen short, and downright messed up. And, in the spirit of full disclosure (lawyer phrases slipping in), those times of disappointment typically involve my tongue as well as my tendency to pursue for closure. Get it done and move on, right? Quick tongue plus quick action often equals missed mark. So, this morning, and all through the night, I’ve seen those moments. And, I’ve said, “Woe is me!” And, then I hear it… “In the year that king Uzziah (my sense of security, self-sufficiency and my place of comfort) died I saw also The Lord sitting upon a throne, (everything around me changes, He never changes — yesterday, today and forever…He is) high and lifted up, and his train (his presence, his power, his authority) filled the temple (my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit — You, are welcome in this place, oh, Lord). Above it (His throne) stood the serphims each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face and with twain he covered his feet and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, (here’s a thought — what voices do we entertain throughout the night hours and during our day? I want to hear the sounds of heaven.) and said, Holy, Holy, Holy is The Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved (the structure of my life changes in his presence) at the voice of him who cried, and the house was filled with smoke. (I want to smell like smoke! Set me on fire, Lord! Set me on fire!) then said I, “woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man (woman) of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” Wow…no wonder I am looking at those places in my life for which I am disappointed. So glad God doesn’t leave us where He finds us!
